Marbled Steamed Cake (Bolu Kukus Zebra)


750 gr egg whites

2 tsp baking powder

350 gr granulated sugar

450 gr flour

200 gr melted butter

50 ml sprite

1 tsp V Houten Cocoa Powder 4.4 oz


Prepare the steamer. Make sure the steamer is big enough to hold the pan.

Line the 9 inches round pan with the parchment paper.

Beat egg whites together with sugar until stiff.

Shift flour into the egg whites and fold.

Add melted butter and sprite onto the egg white batter and continue to fold in gently.

On another bowl, mix about 1/3 of the batter with the chocolate powder until blended.

Pour about cup of white batter in the middle of the pan. Then top with cup of chocolate batter in the center of the pan (right on top of the white one). Continue with this alternating between the white and the chocolate batter until all finish.

Steam for about 45 minutes or until a tested inserted into center comes out clean.

Cool the cake in a wire rack.
